Start with the job

Websites, web apps, and custom software: where to start

Jarve builds public websites as well as the software behind them. The right starting point depends on whether you need a clearer customer journey, a working application, or a repeated business process fixed.

Web app development

Choose this when customers or staff need to log in, submit information, track work, or use a purpose-built online tool.

Custom software development

Choose this when the job crosses several teams, systems, permissions, or specialised business rules.

Business automation

Choose this when the tools mostly work but repeated admin, reporting, approvals, or data handoffs do not.

01 — The short version

Twenty years on the tools. Then I built my own.

I ran a painting business for twenty years — quotes in spreadsheets, jobs on paper, invoices in a third app that didn't talk to either. I know exactly what running a business on duct tape costs, because I paid it.

So I taught myself to code and built the tools I wished existed. That side project became the job: five years of shipping production software from Adelaide — MVPs, internal tools, and web apps that replace the duct tape for Australian businesses.

“I don't build software like an agency. I scope it, quote it, and finish it — like a tradesman.”

James, founder of Jarve

03 — How a build runs

Weeks, not months.

Most custom software takes three to six months. This process ships in weeks — and you see it working every Friday, not at the end.

  1. 01 · Week 1

    Scope & quote

A free call to understand the business, then a paid deep-dive that ends with a fixed scope, a timeline, and a price that does not move.

  2. 02 · Weeks 2–4

    Build & demo

I build; you watch it happen. A live demo lands every seven days and your feedback goes straight into the next week of work. No disappearing acts.

  3. 03 · Weeks 4–8

    Launch & iterate

The product goes live on real infrastructure. I stay on to watch it run, fix what real users surface, and hand over something your team owns.

04 — What it costs

Quoted like a trade job.
